Have you heard of ALDI?
I hadn’t until I was invited recently to the ALDI store preview in Richmond, VA on Parham Road. I was immediately intrigued to find out more about their products, and I wondered if a store so small would have the essentials that we frequently buy in other grocery stores.
A walk through the aisles was interesting, informative, and yum! I was able to sample liveGfree Gluten Free Sea Salt Crackers, liveGfree Gluten Free Cookies, Specially Selected Brie Cheese, and Moser Roth Chocolates.

The food I tasted was delicious, high quality, and even better than my favorite brands. It was obvious; the store does not skimp on their ingredients and take pride in their products.
I wanted to find out if ALDI had all the essentials I usually buy for my household such as Coffee, Milk, Eggs, Meat and Poultry, Cheese, Fruits and Vegetables. I checked off each item on my mental list and I found them all in the store plus more.
The prices were astoundingly low:
12 oz bag of Barrisimo Ground Coffee for $3.99
1 gallon Friendly Farms milk for $2.49*
Goldenhen Grade A Large Eggs for $1.39*
Kirkwood Fresh Whole Chicken for $0.95 cents per pound
Specially Selected Cheeses from $1.79 to $1.99
If I could only list the whole store for you I would!
Friendly Farms Milk and Goldenhen Grade A Large Eggs
Carlini Olive Oil, Carlini Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Specialty Select Gouda Cheese
ALDI is known for high-quality grocery items at incredibly low prices, even organic food, gluten free products and diet foods that ALDI sells through their exclusive line of products: SimplyNature, liveGfree, and Fit & Active.
They also back up the quality of our purchases with the ALDI Double Guarantee: If for any reason we, their customers, are not 100 percent satisfied with a food product, ALDI will gladly replace the product and refund our money!

I plan to buy milk, bread, and coffee.
I will look for fresh fruit, coffee, and whole milk yogurt – things we seem to spend the most $ for each week.
I’ll buy Barissimo coffee, canned green beans and chocolate!
I am so excited one is finally in town! I used to shop here when I was at college.
I am going to buy produce, bread and eggs. It’s the best place for staple groceries!
