The eggs have disappeared. Luckily, no eggs are required for this Easy Homemade Pie Crust recipe.

We are currently living in weird times.  Grocery shelves are scant from necessities and one can easily tell who the hoarders are during check out.  I hope it calms down for all of us soon. I hope this pie crust recipe brings some comfort.

The main ingredients to make pie dough are flour, butter, and water.  Salt and sugar are only used for flavoring.

How to make a buttery and flaky pie crust

I’ve included two instructions for pie crust using a food processor and pie crust by hand in the recipe below.

This pie crust has no shortening and uses all butter, but what if you don’t have butter? Oil can be used as a substitute as well as shortening.  The texture of crust is different depending on what fat is used for the recipe.

The  trick for a flaky pie crust is to always keep all your ingredients cold and don’t over incorporate your fat in the flour.
