Star Apple Sliced

An easy pie tart for Christmas. This quirky fruit with a mild sweet and tart taste is shaped like a star when sliced crosswise. Its physical structure is made of many sides, hence, it’s Filipino name is called “balimibing” in reference to a political turncoat having “many sides”.







  1. Pre heat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Melt 1 tbsp butter on medium heat on stove top
  3. Add star apples, brown sugar, and cornstarch and mix gently
  4. Cook in medium low heat for 3 minutes or until mixture thickens and set aside
  5. Unroll pie crust on a lightly greased cookie sheet
  6. Spread lemon curd evenly on pie crust
  7. Add star fruit-sugar mixture in middle of pie crust, and spread evenly
  8. Fold and tuck sides of pie crust and brush butter evenly on the crust
  9. Bake for 10 minutes or until crust is golden brown
  10. Take out of oven and brush jelly glaze over the tart
